Live To Tell, my second favourite Madonna song after Into The Groove. It's a nice cover, just listened to it. My dream cover would be Bat For Lashes doing it with the Lost Girls production. The original Madonna version just has that sound and production that I just cannot get enough of, it sounded nostalgic even in 1986. It must be jam packed with minor chords or something, it's aural crack for me.

It's track 16 on the CD I have, it’s the 4.23 version, maybe my version is a reissue of ‘Gabrielle’, it’s got Walk On By on there as well. I think it’s her best album. I am a fairweather fan to be honest, I do find the songs a bit bland a lot of the time despite her gorgeous voice but the Frankie Knuckles remix of Sunshine gets a lot of play in these parts. Managed to nab a copy online for a couple of quid. Made sure it's the 16-tracker with the hype sticker. Looking forward to it, so thanks! |

I am due to head down a vintage Vangelis rabbit hole in the next few days as have ordered a few CDs that I didn't have. The album covers always appealed to me. I got the originals as the recent remasters have been 'dabbled' with by the man himself. Probably not as badly dabbled as the Robin Guthrie hatchet job on the Cocteau Twins but I am taking no risks. View AttachmentYeah, I did a similar thing a few years back, as part of a Vangelis project. I got mainly remasters (they were 4.99 at the time), but it's probably a wise move to get as many originals as possible. CDs arriving gradually ..... Opera Sauvage and L'apocalypse Des Animaux are the highlights so far. I prefer him less bombastic. Some of his stuff is super OTT with what sounds like huge choirs and invasions Game Of Thrones style. I think Enya managed to distill this new age synthy sound into something more palatable for the masses and of course really invaded the charts of the world her multi tracked 'choirs' of her own voice. |

I also prefer the more restrained Vangelis. Blade Runner is the absolutely pinnacle of that approach.

I really like the Ultimate Collection. So much that I forked out for the Japanese one as well recently; five more tracks. I also have the 2CD Essential (I see there is a 3CD version) and History.
